With more than 100 people from all over Renfrewshire (and beyond for some!) filling the church, Houston and Erskine Church of the Nazarene’s Hogmanay celebration was one to be remembered. Music, food, dancing and fellowship were active (even contagious!) roles of this night.
David Hendry led and called out quite a number of traditional Scottish dances which were fun, a good laugh and a bit of exercise for those who participated. Mark Pollock even lead us in a time of sing-a-longs!
Later in the evening just before midnight, Pastor Benito Coetzee and Derrick Thames co-led a time of communion and worship to bring in the new year. But as we were closing out, Pastor Derrick asked how much time we had till new year and a voice responded with “30 seconds!” Pastor Derrick quickly instructed everyone to stand on their chairs and said that we were to jump into the new year… together.
As everyone jumped (safely) hand in hand, hundreds of hugs, smiles, and blessings were exchanged across the entire church. It was definitely one night to be remembered.
